fence! fence! fence!

I feel like the backyard has to get even more pit-like before it starts to look better, no?  The fence is being installed today.  That's right, I'm cheating and I have paid a lovely fence-building couple to come in and show off their handy skills.  The patio at the back of the yard was looking nice until the giant pole-digging machine went over it and completely munched on a whole side of it.  Glad I didn't cement the patio yet.  If it would've shifted at all under the weight I would have been in a pickle...  Now all I have to do is fix the patio, dig a drainage ditch, fill it will gravel, build a little wall around the patio, fill it with dirt and plant a garden and then figure out what I am going to do about the gravel that keeps migrating.  I am thinking sod??  I need to figure out a way to keep Abe napping because Momma needs more time.

  1. You know whats annoying about a fence...you pay so much money and the "ugly" side has to face you!

  2. Yay backyard! Way to work it, girl! Is that drainage and wall for the patio? I didn't do any of that. I didn't cement it either. I've done a few patios the easy way and they are all looking great years later. Just saying.

  4. Also, if you can get a lot of the gravel out, you can use that black plastic edging to keep them separate. I'll take a picture of my grass/gravel edge for reference. It does a lovely job!

  5. Hey Janelle! You're patio looks amazing. Maybe you need to come over to give me some advice on your methods. I have a dream backyard in my head, I just don't know if I can shake it out.
